MEASUREMENT OF MACHINES AND APPLIACE'S VIBRATIONS
MEASUREMENT of Machines and Appliances’ Vibrations
The VIBROPOMIAR Company measures vibrations of all turbo-machines, piston machines and other appliances which are related those machines in respect of their construction or technology applied, as well as analyses vibrations and interprets measurement results. These appliances include:
- Steel structures of industrial halls,
- Building structure,
- Foundations and support structures located beneath machines,
- Pipelines
Two methods are applied to measure vibrations:
1. Measuring procedure carried out by means of a movable apparatus which makes it possible to read the data immediately.
2. Measuring procedure consisting of the recording of vibrations on the magnetic tape and subsequent in the laboratory.
1. Recording vibrations on a magnetic tape with the aim of filing data and analysing it in the laboratory.

Measuring procedure which makes a simultaneous recording of vibrations in 53 measuring points possible.
Advantages of the data obtained in this way include:
- Possibility of making an accurate, multi-channel frequency analysis of the signal by means of a highly specialised vibration analyser,
- Possibility of making a very accurate phase analysis in the VIBROPOMIAR Company’s laboratory by means of a pair of follow-up filters and a phase meter,
- Possibility of making all kinds of time analyses,
- Filing measurement data for future, repeated analyses of cases from the past

Measurement is carried out successively at each indicated point. Results can be stored in the memory of the measuring device. Moreover, they are obtained in the form of scalars which can be subjected to further signal processing.
It is possible to immediately read vibration values as well as evaluate the machine in respect of its vibration state.
This method enables an immediate evaluation of the machine’s technical condition, but thorough diagnostic analysis cannot be made if the machine exhibits symptoms indicating failure.
The measurement is limited to that of physical quantity sets which can be used to define and evaluate unambiguously the machine or device’s vibration condition.
We conduct the measurement of machines and appliances’ vibrations for:
- Locate the sources of vibrations and determine their causes,
- Assess the vibration degree: current condition compared to the history of the machine,
- Collect data to make a complete analysis of the vibration state: current condition compared to the history of the machine,
- Interpret the vibration state observed: current condition compared to the history of the machine,
- Make a diagnosis regarding the technical state of the turbo set: current condition compared to the history of the machine,
- Make a forecast about the future technical state: current condition compared to the history of the machine,
- Prepare data concerning the time-span necessary for the repair and its scope.
The scope of the measurement we conduct depends on requirements, objectives and technical problems discovered in the device inspected.
We also measure free vibrations of blades and rotor disks to assess the possibility of the occurrence of blades’ resonant vibration in the course operation.
We indicate loosenings home or any possibility of looseness in the blade disk or clutch plate mounting on the shaft of the rotor. Measurement is carried out when the rotor is disabled, for example, during a repair of the unit. For this purpose, we use a method developed by the VIBROPOMIAR Company on the basis of modal analysis.
Our measurement activity is geared towards defining ranges of actual critical velocities of machines. Moreover, we define frequencies of free vibration of machine elements. We thus provide a team operating the turbine set with the knowledge of what ranges of inducement frequencies are dangerous for a given construction joint.
In this way the elements inspected are secured against damage caused by resonant vibration. This enhances the safety of operation.
The VIBROPOMIAR Company also maintains a measuring team which responds to emergencies. It conducts limited measurement consisting of the evaluation of the rotating system’s vibration condition. This measurement serves the purpose of assessing fitness of a rotating system for further operation, making it possible to evaluate its technical condition .
